LOVE AND FOOTBALL: 5 THINGS SUPPORTING ARSENAL HAS TAUGHT ME ABOUT LOVE

Image
One of the hardest things to be in life is an Arsenal supporter. Arsenal fans had to endure 3282 days of hurt, agony, disappoint and misery to final celebrate the club winning a trophy.   In that time, I have learnt a lot about love through supporting Arsenal. Okay, I just read your mind and I know what you are thinking. How can I base my knowledge of love on a bunch of dudes making mega bucks kicking some ball? To answer your question, I believe God uses anything to teach us. I mean, He used a donkey to teach a certain man in the Bible, right? So if He chooses to use a bunch of good looking young men (fyi, this decription only applies to Arsenal players) playing the round leather game to knock some love lessons into my thick skull, then yours truly isn’t gonna complain. So, below are the 5 things supporting Arsenal has taught me about love. 1.      LOVE IS NOT A FEELING, BUT A CHOICE BORN OUT OF COMMITMENT One of the commonest questions I get asked is why I stick with Ars

What a week it has been for Nigeria and Nigerians.   The past week should have been called ‘the week the world stood still for Nigeria’. But how I wish the world stopped for something positive. How I wish the reason the world stopped for Nigeria was that one of our scientists discovered the cure for cancer. Or that one of our universities finally claimed the top spot for world’s best universities. Oh, how I wish we gained full global attention for something else other than terrorism. But nay, not so. We had to garner international media attention because some godless beasts hell bent on destroying our democracy decided to kidnap some helpless school girls.  In the midst of all the media brouhaha, I stumbled upon a certain ‘Diariz God’ video trending on twitter and other social media platforms. The first time I watched the video, I refused to believe it. And no, it had nothing to do with the grammar of Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan. It also has nothing to do wit

So You Think You Can Change Him?

I ran into a friend recently and she joyously gushed to me about her upcoming wedding. To say that her happiness was contagious is to say the least. Yours truly quickly dragged her to the nearest fast food restaurant so I could get the full load down of the wedding things...lol.   There, she produced her wedding invitation card (classy stuff I must say) and upon further gist, she disclosed that even though she was madly in love with her fiancĂ©e, one little thing bothered her: he is catholic; she worships with Mountain of Fire Ministries.  This little info may not have necessarily meant so much in the grand scheme of things if I were hearing that from someone else. You see, my dear amiga is a staunch member of her church- as in S-T-A-U-N-C-H! When I asked her why she accepted to marry him in spite of their obvious evangelistic differences, she launched into the classic, ‘you-can’t-help-who-you-love’ tale.   Amongst the many things she said to justify her decision to marry her

It is exactly 6 months, 4 days and 9 hours since my last blog post! *covers face*  Even I can't fathom how I let my blog gather lots of cobwebs and dust. Granted, the last 6 months have been nothing short of crazy, but still....a responsibility is a responsibility. I, therefore, sincerely apologize to all my readers for this unplanned sabbatical. I promise it isn't going to happen again. I am back, and I am better....hopefully. Lol. On my honor, I promise to do my best in updating this post on a weekly basis- at least. *cross my heart...* I also promise to do right by y'all and get the job done in here. Is it going to be easy juggling my crazy schedule with running this blog? I don't think so at all. But, where there is a will, there is certainly a way. Knowing you are reading these posts and supporting me is all the motivation I need to get off my behind and get to work. So on this note, I welcome y'all back to my world....where everything still comes n
